A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged following an alleged stabbing incident at a petrol station in Maryborough on Sunday.

It’s understood the man approached a woman at the EG Ampol (formerly Woolworths)  service station in Tuaggra Street at around 6.30 pm on Sunday and allegedly made a demand for the woman’s car before slashing her with a box cutter.

The 39-year-old woman was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At around 7 pm, the same man approached a 46-year-old woman in High Street who was attempting to deposit cash into an ATM before the man allegedly took the cash from the machine.

The man allegedly fled the scene in a taxi, before officers located him on the Pyrenees Highway a short time later.

The 29-year-old was arrested and transported to hospital for assessment under police guard.

He has been charged with aggravating carjacking with an offensive weapon, assault with intent to rob, intentionally cause injury, theft, deal with property suspected of being proceeds of crime, and weapon offences.
