CAMPBELLS CREEK 6.8 (44) def by MARYBOROUGH GIANTS 21.4 (130)

Maryborough Giants had a comfortable victory at Campbells Creek, winning by 86 points.

However, it was a very tense opening term as the Giants only led at quarter time by 10 points, with the Creekers had the same amount of scoring shots on goal as the Giants, but could only manage two goals to the Giants four.

From this point in the game, the visitors took control with a six-goal to one second term to lead at half time by 37 points.

The Giants defence was holding regular goal scorer, Joel Wootton to just one goal for the game, but Nick O’Brien was proving to be a difficult shore for the Giants defenders as he slotted four of the six goals that the home team scored for the game.

The second half was very much in favour of the Giants as they ran Creek off their legs and kicked 11 goals to three to finish the game strongly.

The Giants had numerous goalkickers with Damian Cupido snagging five goals, Mitch Whelan kicking four goals, and Kaylab Eggers and Cody Wright finished with three goals apiece.

Cody Wright continued his good form with a best on ground performance, and he was supported by Matt Walker, Declan Wagstaff, Cupido, Whelan and Rhys Wagstaff.

Dylan Stevens has had a good season for Creek and was again named as their best player, along with Hadley Bassett, O’Brien, Kyle Gellatly, John Raymond and Justin Garipoli.
