Adelaide Lead event to honour the memory and contribution of Audrey Bartlett
The fundraising event on October 5 is being organised to support the Bartlett family following Audrey's death in August.
The Adelaide Lead Hall committee is organising a fundraiser to support the family of a local who even in sickness gave her all to the community, expecting nothing in return — with a huge crowd gathering to honour Audrey Bartlett’s memory and generosity tomorrow night.
Kicking off at 5.30 pm on October 5, the free to attend event will feature live music, trivia, raffles, auctions, food, beverages and everything else to make it “a real fun night” for a real good cause.
Although the trivia session is already booked out with 120 people registered, Adelaide Lead Hall committee president Drew Garraway said there is still plenty for everyone to do, including watching a performance by musical duo Rod and Gaga.
“It’s going to be a beautiful event,” he said.
“All the money we raise is going to go to Audrey’s family so I hope everyone comes along because it’s all about supporting the Bartletts.”
Audrey, who’d been working with the Central Goldfields Shire for over a decade, sadly died in August after being diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2018.
In her time with council, she tirelessly worked for the entire community especially as a member of the youth, L2P and VicRoads teams.
“She has done so much for the region — stuff that nobody knew about and that didn’t matter to her because she didn’t want any recognition,” Mr Garraway said.
“Among the many roles she took on, she was also a very active member of our hall committee.
“We’re a really tight-knit group of people and she was one of us. She actually wanted to organise a trivia night before she passed away but it didn’t happen so we thought this would be a perfect thing to do for her.”
Mr Garraway said it was heartening to see so many businesses and residents rally behind the event — a testament to Audrey’s widespread impact.
“I’m really excited to see it all come together tomorrow,” he said.
“We’ve had so many organisations donating money, and a huge number of people have already registered.
“It’s amazing to receive the support we’ve been getting.”
Hoping to see close to 200 attendees, Mr Garraway is encouraging community members to make the trip down to the hall.
“Come along and bring everybody you possibly can,” he said.
“Through the fundraiser we want to assist Audrey’s son so the more money we can raise, the better.
“There’s a lot happening on the night — it’ll be well worth it.”
The fundraiser will get underway from 5.30 pm onwards at Sanders Road, Adelaide Lead Hall, tomorrow, October 5.
Entry is free, with food and beverages available to purchase.
