Stepping up in response to the recent bushfires that impacted communities across western Victoria — Bendigo Bank has launched an important appeal to support affected residents.
The 2024 Western Bushfire Appeal, led by the Beaufort and Avoca Community Banks, will be facilitated by the Community Enterprise Foundation, the charitable arm of the Bendigo Bank.
Emphasing the need for collective action, the bank’s CEO and managing director Marnie Baker encouraged people to come together in support of families displaced and properties damaged by the fires.
“[This appeal] will direct financial assistance towards both immediate relief efforts, helping those impacted to rebuild their lives and longer-term resilience strategies, to help in future emergency situations,” Ms Baker said.
“[We are] committed to supporting those who need our help in challenging times. Together, we can make a positive impact and assist in the recovery process.
“Every donation will make a difference in helping those affected by the bushfires.”
Community Bank Beaufort chair Alan McCartney said with homes lost and significant farm infrastructure damaged including shedding, fencing and stock losses, the organisations wanted to do everything they could to help the local community.
“Community Bank Beaufort and Community Bank Avoca stand ready to support our customers and communities in times of need. That is why we’re kicking off the launch of the appeal with a $20,000 contribution,” he said.
People wishing to support these communities are encouraged to provide monetary donations directly to the appeal — donations can be made online on, www.community enterprisefoundation.com.au/disaster-appeals/western-victoria-bushfire-appeal/ or at your local Bendigo Bank branch.
For those who have been impacted by the fire, call Pyrenees Shire Council on 1300 797 363 to register your details with their customer service team.
The team will provide more information to help you now, but will also ensure you are registered for other relief support services over the coming weeks and months.
