Avoca’s winning run goes on, this time disposing of bottom-placed Talbot by 58 goals.
The Bulldogs put the foot down in the second half, restricting the Hawks to just five goals after what was, to their credit, a credible opening half showing.
They were able to score 20 goals in the opening quarter to open up an 11-goal lead at the first break, before outscoring the Hawks 18 goals to eight to lead 38-17 at half time.
However, the Bulldogs were looking for percentage just in case they were to slip up at the back end of the season in what is a great fight for the top spot on the ladder with Natte Bealiba, and a 20-goal to three third quarter helped set them towards a boost, leading 58-20 at the final break.
The Bulldogs didn’t stop in the final quarter, scoring 22 goals to two to eventually run out 80-22 winners.
Elisa Pica, Olivia Carlin and Gina Beavis were the votegetters for the victorious Bulldogs, with Maddison Egan scoring 45 goals and Beavis 35.
For Talbot, Amanda Swanson, Charlotte Roche and Elise Decaria were voted the Hawks’ best players, with Decaria scoring 15 goals.
