Avoca fire not suspicious
Last Thursday’s house fire in Avoca’s Bridport Street has officially been deemed non-suspicious.
Although officers initially arrested a woman, investigations have since revealed that the fire was not deliberately lit.
Police have confirmed the woman was released and no charges were laid.
According to police, the unit was empty at the time of the incident, however a man returned to the property to find his home fully engulfed.
The man and two police officers suffered from smoke inhalation at the scene, with the man transported to hospital for additional treatment.
The house sustained major damage.
It is believed the woman who was arrested had presented herself at the police station and was transported to hospital for assessment.
