A stunning third quarter charge helped Avoca put Royal Park to the sword, maintaining their status as the team to catch in 2022.

\Up until half time, the Bulldogs were struggling to put away a Royal Park side that were desperately trying to find a way to keep in touch with the top eight.

Avoca would sneak out to a four-goal lead in the opening period, scoring 15 goals to 11 in what was a high-scoring opening quarter.

The Bulldogs would increase their lead in the second, but a pesky Royal Park outfit stubbornly wouldn’t go away, with the quarter ending 13 goals to 10 in favour of Avoca as they led by seven goals at the main break.

However, this gave the Bulldogs a chance to regroup, and were able to seal the game through a devastating 19-goal to five burst which saw the margin balloon out to 21 goals by the final change.

Royal Park were able to return to their first half form in the final quarter, scoring 11 goals while restricting Avoca to 13, but the third quarter proved to do all the damage as Avoca ran out 23-goal winners.

The best players were not provided prior to print deadline.

Maddison Egan led the way in the goal circle for Avoca, scoring 35 goals, while for Royal Park, Lucy Morcom played well, scoring 23 goals.

Royal Park’s Kyra Egan takes a pass in the defensive third.
