Avoca continued on their dominant ways, recording a comfortable 41-goal victory over Dunolly at the first game at Dunolly’s new netball courts at Deledio Reserve.
While the courts haven’t quite been finished yet, the final product both teams played on on Saturday looked splendid, but it was Avoca who dominated from start to finish.
The Bulldogs took charge in the opening term to lead 16-8 at the first break. Maddy Egan scored 11 goals for the term, while Gina Beavis added five, while at the other end, Zoe Aldridge scored five goals and Kate Ashman added three.
The Bulldogs continued on their merry way in the second term, and added to their lead by scoring 18 goals to eight in the second term, with Egan adding a further 10 and Beavis eight, while Aldridge scored five and Ashman three for Dunolly, with the Dogs up 34-16 at the long break.
Any thoughts of the Bulldogs taking their foot slightly off the pedal weren’t forthcoming as they continued to pile on the pressure, with a further 17 goals to nine for the quarter to lead 51-25 at the last change. Egan added nine goals, while Beavis scored eight for the Bulldogs, and Aldridge scored seven and Ashman two for the Eagles.
The Bulldogs finished full of running for the afternoon and dominated in the goal circle, scoring 22 of their 23 shots for the quarter. Egan scored 15 goals to finish with 45 for the day, while Beavis added seven to finish with 28. For the Eagles, Ashman and Teagan Hovey scored three goals apiece, while Aldridge scored one to finish with 18 goals for the day.
Avoca will now welcome Trentham to the Avoca Public Park this week, while Dunolly travels to Campbells Creek.
