The Maryborough Tennis Centre will be hosting an Australian Open ballkids try out next week for all interested children.
The come and try day will be held on Tuesday, March 19, starting at 4.45 pm, with the day forming a part of the National Ballkid Program.
It is the first time the program has been held in Maryborough.
Ballkids will learn the art of participating in the activity, which includes retrieving, servicing, concentration, communication and movement.
All ballkids can be aged from 11 to 16 years in Australia, as set by tournament age restrictions in Australia, with Australian Open ballkids aged 12 to 15 years on January 1 of every event year.
Over 2500 applicants try out for the role every year, with 394 selected to participate in the most recent tournament in January.
Anyone who is interested in becoming a ballkid, or for general inquires for Tuesday’s come and try day can contact Heather Carr on 0400 498 056.
