Brodie Harrison’s journey to complete the Hattah Desert Race was successful on Sunday, with the local achieving his goal of finishing in the top 100, while narrowly missing out on a top 50 spot.

The weekend’s race, held just outside of Mildura, saw 400 competitors compete in a multi-class format around a gruelling 37-kilometre course which takes around 30-35 minutes for a lap at an average speed of around 60 kilometres an hour.

Harrison finished in a very impressive 66th outright, while he was also able to finish an outstanding 20th in the Over 450 4-stroke category.

To highlight the complexities of the Hattah Desert Race, it was a race of attrition, with 44 of the 400 unable to finish the race throughout the day.

A solid outing in the prolog event on Saturday was able to set up Harrison for a great run on Sunday, finishing in 70th position outright, and 23rd in class.

The eight-lap outing saw Harrison complete the race in four hours, 20 minutes and 17.554 seconds, and while he only completed seven of the eight laps, it was still good enough to see Harrison achieve a fantastic result for the weekend, one which was achieved through great, consistent pace.

Starting 75th outright, Harrison rode a steady race, initially moving up to 67th by lap one, before settling in 69th throughout laps two and three. By the penultimate lap of his race, Harrison was able to move up to within striking distance of the top 50 in 61st, before settling for his 66th placing on the last lap, a gain of nine spots throughout the race.

Harrison achieved a best lap time of 34 minutes, 40.525 seconds achieved on lap two.
