Residents caught up in the Centrelink Robodebt scheme are urged to share their story with the Royal Commission this month.
The Royal Commission into the Robodebt Scheme was established in August last year, aimed at investigating the automated debt assessment and recovery scheme (known as the Robodebt scheme) designed to detect Centrelink overpayments.
According to the AAP, from 2015 until 2020 the scheme wrongly recovered more than $750 million from 381,000 people.
The Royal Commission into the Robodebt Scheme is now urging anyone who was impacted by the scheme to share their story before submissions close in less than a month.
Submissions close on February 3.
To submit, visit robodebt.royal commission.gov.au
For anyone who is unable to use the online form:
• Phone 1800 317 022 to make your submission over the phone.
• Email RRC.enquiries@royal commission.gov.au or write to the Royal Commission at GPO Box 546, Brisbane QLD 4001 to receive a paper submission form
• The commission can receive submissions via video or audio recording. Email RRC.enquiries@ royalcommission.gov.au and ask for instructions on how to record and securely upload video or audio submission or for assistance to make a video recording.
A final report from the commission is due on April 18.
