Carisbrook have closed the gap to second place by a game courtesy of a 24-goal victory over Navarre at the Navarre Sports Complex.

The Redbacks benefitted from the Giants losing to Natte Bealiba to sit just a game and percentage behind the pair, while for Navarre, their loss means they fall outside the top eight.

A tight opening saw Carisbrook take a slender lead, scoring 12 goals to 10. Abbey Nalder and Paige McLean was the combination for the Redbacks, with Nalder scoring seven goals and McLean five, while for Navarre, Mollie Simpson led the line with seven goals, and Annabelle Price scored three.

However, the Redbacks shot away in the second half, scoring 16 goals to six to lead 28-16 at the main break. McLean scored nine goals and Nalder seven for Carisbrook, while for Navarre, Price scored four and Simpson two.

The third quarter was a repeat of the first term, with barely anything separating the two teams, with Carisbrook scoring 11 goals and Navarre 10 to see the Redbacks lead 39-26 at the last change. Nalder scored six goals and McLean five for Carisbrook, while for Navarre, Simpson scored nine goals and Sadie Reading one.

Carisbrook cleared away from the Hoppers again in the last term, scoring 16 goals to five to eventually take a comfortable win. McLean scored nine goals to finish with 28, while Nalder added seven to finish with 27 in what was an even shooting performance. For Navarre, Simpson scored all five of their goals.
