It’s the last game of what has been a season of rapid improvement for the Carisbrook Lady Redbacks at both senior and under 16 level.
The senior team will travel to Darley, hoping for an improvement on their 113-point loss to the Devils just two weeks ago, while the under 16s will seek their fifth win of the season.
Last week’s 24-point loss to Lake Wendouree showcased the improvement the Lady Redbacks have shown in just a few short months since they returned to the competition.
While there would have been some frustration to have not scored a goal from seven scoring shots, the fact that they were very much in the game for three quarters suggests that a win against quality opposition might not be that far away.
It appears that Anika Munn and Olivia Butler will fight it out for the best and fairest, having appeared in the best players on 13 and 14 occasions respectively throughout the season, including their loss to the Lakers last week.
Julianne Baldock, Sherriden Byrne, Danae Every and Dusty Taylor-Irwin were also named in the best players.
The under 16s were unable to score a win against East Point last week, as the Tricolours proved too strong for the Lady Redbacks, winning by 36 points.
Two goals in the first quarter to no score meant that East Point got the jump, and despite a third quarter goal to Rhiannon Carter, the Lady Redbacks weren’t able to keep themselves in the game.
Rhani Evans, Tahlia Jordan, Carter, Remi Jardine, Maddison Smith and Laylah Smith were all named in the best players.
It’s been an impressive season from the Lady Redbacks junior group when all is said and done. A fifth win would be just reward for a group that has been super competitive for the large part of the season, including superb wins over the Ballarat Swans, and big wins over Darley and Lake Wendouree.
