The CFA is asking regional residents to jump on board as volunteers, taking on positions from firefighters to brigade supporters.
Victoria’s regional fire brigades are entirely volunteer-based, with 52,000 people currently volunteering with the CFA across Victoria to protect communities from fires and other emergencies.
In the Goldfields Group of Brigades there are 10 brigades — Maryborough, Carisbrook, Talbot, Bowenvale, Wareek-Bung Bong, Mount Cameron, Dunolly, Bealiba, Natte Yallock, and Moolort-Joyces Creek.
“Volunteers are the backbone of the firefighting and emergency response network across Victoria,” CFA chief officer Jason Heffernan said.
“We are calling on all community-minded individuals who are looking for a new challenge to consider joining their local brigade and apply their expertise and knowledge to CFA.
“The rewards of being a CFA volunteer are immeasurable and our members make a real difference in their communities.”
CFA crews respond to a range of emergency incidents including high angle rescues, structure, grass and scrub fires, hazmat and road crash rescues.
Volunteer positions range from firefighters who attend emergencies to brigade support positions.
The CFA welcomes volunteers from all backgrounds, and is particularly interested in hearing from young people eager to join.
