Although all games were washed out last week, an intriguing round of A reserve cricket still awaits this Saturday.
Impressive winners two weeks ago, Colts Phelans and Talbot, are set to meet on Hedges Oval.
Colts Phelans remain unbeaten thanks to big wins in their opening two games against Avoca and Maryborough, but Talbot could prove to be a good challenge after putting 180 on Laanecoorie Dunolly and eventually winning by 60 runs.
Laane will be looking to bounce back following a loss and subsequent forfeit last week as they host Clunes at home.
Clunes will also be looking to bounce back, having been beaten by Avoca after such an impressive performance against Carisbrook to open their season.
Natte Yallock will host Avoca, with Avoca getting the response they needed two weeks ago when they were able to defeat Clunes, while in a thrilling match, Natte couldn’t quite get the job done against MKM despite looking in decent shape at different parts of both innings with bat and ball.
Carisbrook will be looking to leverage their big return to form two weeks ago into another win against MKM on Saturday, with Brook fresh off their 203-run victory over Beaufort. However, MKM have shown an ability to keep teams to low totals so far this season, as their games against Maryborough and Natte Yallock has shown, with MKM conceding just 162 runs in two games.
Finally, Beaufort and Maryborough play off looking to get some confidence back into their line-ups after suffering big defeats two weeks ago.
Beaufort were unable to stop Carisbrook from tearing through their batting order, with the Crows dismissed for just 15 runs.
Maryborough themselves have struggled to score so far this season, accumulating 148 runs in their two games thus far, making this game an interesting battle.
Meantime, in the Red House Bakery 16 and under competition, Colts Phelans and Carisbrook will do battle at Jubilee Oval looking for their first victory of the season.
Player availability hampered Colts two weeks ago against Maryborough, all out for 24 in response to the Owls’ 95, while Brook were similarly unable to catch Laane’s total of 115, all out for 64.
It means the two unbeaten teams, Laane and Maryborough, will also play one another on RL Williams Oval.
Despite Colts’ lack of players, there is still a great deal to be impressed with, including Blair Ross taking a hat-trick in their 71-run win.
The performances of Joe Lovel, Lachie Condie and Thang Nguyen will give Laane optimism that they can take the next step this season in their win over Brook.
