A new round of the Sporting Club Grants Program is set to open in the next few weeks.

The Allan Labor Government will continue to support clubs in ensuring that they can build active communities, with 560 recipients sharing more than $694,000 from the latest round of the program.

Clubs are being urged to consider applying for the grants, which provides up to $1000 for uniforms, equipment and resources which increase accessibility and engagement, up to $2000 for projects which enhance volunteering and officiating numbers, up to $4000 for new sport or recreation programs and up to $750 to help support athlete travels.

Over $16 million in support has been granted to thousands of clubs since 2015.

Previous recipients in 2022-23 in the Central Goldfields Shire Council and Mount Alexander Shire Council included the Maryborough and District Horse and Pony Club, Maryborough Croquet Club, Maryborough Swimming Club and also cricket clubs and football clubs around the district.

Minister for Community Sport, Ros Spence urged clubs to continue supporting the program.

“Clubs, coaches, officials and volunteers are integral to community sport, and it just wouldn’t happen without them,” she said.

“That’s why we’re backing more clubs with help to purchase uniforms and equipment, and investing in their future through training and development.

“This is about helping to boost memberships, supporting volunteers and getting behind grassroots sport, which is a vital part of local communities.”
