After a cool and wet spring, summer is finally here, but the warm weather may not be with us long as colder days are ahead for the Maryborough region, according to the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) which is predicting lower temperatures over the summer months for much of Victoria.
It’s also likely to be wetter than usual along Australia’s east coast, particularly across most of Victoria, and cooler days will accompany the rain.
A range of climate drivers around Australia are contributing to the wet outlook in the east, according to the BOM’s summer outlook, including a La Niña in the Pacific Ocean (expected to ease in early 2023), a positive Southern Annular Mode and warmer ocean waters around Australia.
According to long range forecasting for Maryborough, December to February is expected to have low to mid-range maximum temperatures ranging from 26° up to 28°.
December is predicted to be unusually cool, with a 51 percent chance of temperatures below 24.7°.
January will heat up a bit, with a 49 percent chance temperatures will be above the median 29.2°.
Throughout summer a higher than average rainfall is expected. A wet December is likely on the cards — things will dry out a little in January, although it’s still predicted to receive more rain than usual.
