Council elections — candidate forum
Before ballot packs are mailed to eligible residents on Monday, locals will have the opportunity to hear from candidates contesting in the relevant wards.
At The Maryborough Advertiser’s forum on October 6, nine candidates will voice their motivations for standing in the upcoming local council elections — they will discuss their take on important issues impacting the shire, and will list their vision for the community.
The session will give locals a chance to consider what matters to them the most and hear first-hand from those vying for a vote.
Since the Maryborough West and Tullaroop wards were uncontested, their representatives won’t be speaking at the forum.
Out of the remaining 11 candidates, Maryborough Central Ward’s Gerard Murphy and Jacob Meyer from the Maryborough East Ward will not be attending due to other commitments.
There will be another opportunity to hear from all candidates in the coming weeks.
The forum is being held at the Maryborough Community Hub this Sunday — the program for candidates standing in the Maryborough Central, North and East wards will start at 1.30 pm and will be followed by the session for Paddys Ranges and Flynn wards at 3.15 pm.
