Crime night to return
Insight into Crime will be held in October, to support the Terry Floyd Foundation.
The Terry Floyd Foundation’s (TFF) upcoming event is summoning all true crime aficionados in Maryborough for a night of mystery and intrigue — with a cadaver specialist dog set to headline the program.
Insight Into Crime will return next month for its third local iteration, which is promising to be bigger and better than previous editions.
Attendees will hear from Victoria Police’s former top homicide detective, Charlie Bezzina and Herald Sun journalist and crime writer, Keith Moor.
The pair will discuss past investigations and high profile cases, followed by an engaging Q&A session.
Another highlight of the night will include a special appearance by a team from Search and Rescue Dogs Australia — with cadaver dog Billy and handler Julie offering a unique experience.
The event — presented by TFF, which was formed in honour of Terry Floyd, the 12-year-old Maryborough boy who was abducted and murdered in 1975 — will raise funds to support projects aimed at school aged children across the district.
With $6000 donated last year, another success could be on the cards this time around.
“If people want to know more about the dark and murky side of crime, then this is the event for them,” founder of the Terry Floyd Foundation Daryl Floyd said.
“It’s also for a good cause. We want to support disadvantaged children and whatever amount we raise is great but the higher it is, the more kids we can help.
“I hope to see a big crowd because they’re basically helping the foundation. It’s Terry’s legacy and it’s to honour his memory. Sadly, he never got a chance to live out his childhood so we want to help other kids live out theirs.”
On the night, people can participate in a silent auction, raffles and book signings.
Merchandise, vouchers and memorabilia will also be available to purchase.
The Insight Into Crime event will take place on Saturday, October 12 at the Maryborough Highland Society.
Doors open at 6 for a 7 pm start.
Tickets are $40 per person —bookings for the night are essential and can be made to Daryl on 0402 125 551 or through the Terry Floyd Foundation Facebook page.
