Delly makes his return for Melbourne United
Matthew Dellavedova has wasted no time getting back up to speed following his appearance for Australia at the Paris Olympic Games.
Dellavedova has returned to Melbourne United to play in the NBL Blitz pre-season tournament, and put together his first game of the season, which was against the Cairns Taipans last Saturday.
Dellavedova came off the bench to play 22 minutes, and while there was some rust early with five turnovers, Dellavedova would eventually put together a performance which included 13 points on 5-of-12 shooting, including two three-pointers, while also collecting four assists, a rebound and a steal, as United won 94-87.
Dellavedova was rested for United’s second match against the Brisbane Bullets, a game United lost 111-104.
United has one more game to negotiate before the NBL season kicks off, and were due to play Illawarra last night.
The NBL season begins next Thursday night, with Dellavedova and United opening the season as part of the inaugural HoopsFest in Perth with a grand final rematch against the Tasmania JackJumpers.
