The Maryborough and District Triathlon Club con-ducted the third event on its 2024/25 club championship season, its first long course triathlon from the Mary-borough Sports and Leisure Centre, on Sunday, October 13.
Event distances were long course (400 m swim, 20 km ride, and 4 km run), and short course (200 m swim, 4 km ride, and 1 km run).
The open male long course provided a very entertaining and enthralling competition between four accomplished triathletes in Will Coutts, Josh Britten, Jeff Beer and Cooper Mark.
All triathletes enjoyed strong swim legs with Josh and Jeff exiting T1 together, and Will and Cooper also commencing the 20km ride leg in unison.

Josh, Cooper, and Will continued to push through to T2, with Will producing an outstanding per-formance after a gear shift incident impacted his top end gear selection.
All triathletes produced strong run legs with Jeff (61:30) taking frst place, Josh (67:29) second place, Cooper (72:12) third place, and Will (73:54) fourth place.

Adam Lowery also enjoyed the course, crossing the finish line in 24:06 to win the open male category, and Sophie Mark (27:55) and Jacqueline Beer (28:26) were first and second in the open female category.
It was the A-Team (Britten, Klemm, and Herd) who produced the fastest short course time of the day however (22:40) to win the open team category.
