The Central Goldfields Art Gallery is inviting residents to hear from local artists Craig Barrett, Jackie Gorring and Phillip Adams next Wednesday — with bookings now extended to Monday, June 3.

The event, named A Sense of Place and presented in partnership with Maryborough U3A, will allow the artists to share how living in central Victoria has shaped their artwork currently on display at the local gallery.

Mr Barrett, who moved from Maryborough to Creswick, commonly uses worn-down sheds, abandoned gold mines and local history to create extra meaning in his pieces.

Ms Gorring, who also participated in a quilt exhibition at the gallery in 2022, collects discarded and unconventional materials to create sculptures of animals and objects found in the Central Goldfields.

Mr Adams, a long time resident of Bung Bong and an art teacher for over 20 years at the Maryborough Technical College, is known for his wildlife and landscape paintings that are inspired from his backyard on Bet Bet Creek.

A Sense of Place will be held on Wednesday, June 5 at 10.30 am at the Central Goldfields Art Gallery.

Bookings are required, and can be made until 4 pm on Monday, June 3. Entry is $5 per person and morning tea will be provided.

To book, call the gallery on 5461-6600 or email cgsc.art@cggoldshire. vic.gov.au
