Train services across Victoria, including the Maryborough line, will be running on extreme heat timetables today as temperatures soar, with the local forecast expected to top 39 degrees.
A full extreme heat timetable will be in place on the Geelong, Warrnambool, Ballarat, Ararat, Maryborough, Bendigo, Swan Hill, Echuca, Shepparton and Seymour lines.
Extreme heat speed restrictions are enforced when temperatures exceed 36° in order to reduce the likelihood of train and track faults, while also keeping passengers safe.
Journey times may be extended by a few minutes as train speeds are reduced and passengers are encouraged to allow extra time for their journeys.
Travellers are also recommended to check the V/Line website prior to travelling to see if services are affected.
To see the extreme heat timetable, visit the V/Line website at vline.com.au or ask for a copy from your nearest staffed station.
