Round 11 of the midweek pennant went off without a hitch, with the higher-ranked teams getting victories.

Highland Tartan took a comfortable victory over stablemates Highland Gold to maintain top spot on the ladder, winning 86-46.

Two dominant rinks helped Tartan on their way, with Greg Shay defeating Corry Moss 41-13, while Leanne Wallis defeated Dennis Prosser 26-14. The third rink saw Andrew Brumby and Paul Gothard score 19 shots apiece.

Second-placed Dunolly Blue took a point off the margin between Tartan and themselves courtesy of a clean-sweep in their 89-30 win over Avoca.

Gregory Dobbin got things started with a 31-6 win over Loralee Field, and Dunolly Blue continued to roll well, with Alan Weir defeating Ann Loosmore 30-13 and Tony Galofaro defeating Rebecca Zeuschner 28-11.

Maryborough Golf moved up to third spot courtesy of their 84-37 win over Carisbrook.

Liz Bucknall’s dominant 37-6 win over Judy Cassidy was the catalyst for their dominant afternoon, but weren’t able to take the clean sweep, with Leonie Briggs clawing two points back for Carisbrook with a 19-16 win over Harold Patullo on the second rink. But Kort Gay’s 31-12 win over Patricia Stancombe was enough to see Golf take third spot on the ladder.

Talbot survived a scare from bottom team Dunolly Gold to eventually take a 73-62 win.

There was something for everyone at Talbot Bowls Club, with three different results.

Dunolly Gold took the points on rink one, with Fabio Delconte defeating Barb Crossley 20-19, while the second rink between Ray Prentice and Wayne Stephens finished all square at 25 shots apiece. But Robert Jackson’s 29-17 win over Jim Haigh was enough for Talbot to take the win and maintain a comfortable top four position.

Round 12 could yet see the top four continue to streak away, given they’ll all be facing lower-ranked teams.

Highland Tartan will look to maintain their stellar run when they face Carisbrook, while they’ll be hoping stablemates Highland Gold give Dunolly Blue a run for their money at the Highland Society.

Third-placed Maryborough Golf travels to Newstead, while Talbot will be hoping to keep themselves in the frame for the double chance when they travel to Avoca.
