The spirit of Christmas has officially arrived to the Central Goldfields with the installation of Christmas decorations underway across the shire.
Decorations can be found across Bealiba, Carisbrook, Dunolly, Talbot and Majorca, with the final decoration being a large Christmas tree in Maryborough’s High Street.
Central Goldfields Shire mayor Liesbeth Long said that the Christmas decorations across the shire always adds extra joy to an exciting time of the year.
“Our Christmas displays across our townships have been extended the past few years, to spread around the Christmas cheer it brings to our whole community,” Cr Long said.
Cr Long said she hopes the local community helps local businesses even more during this year’s festive season.
“We also encourage residents to support our local business community this festive period, whether it is doing your Christmas shopping or catching up with friends and family at our local hospitality venues, we encourage you to shop local,” Cr Long said.
“There’s also a number of fabulous Christmas markets and events scheduled in townships in the coming weeks, please support them if you can.”
Shoppers who buy locally this Christmas will be in the running to win weekly shop vouchers in the local area between $250 and $500 as part of The Maryborough Advertiser’s Christmas Shopping Promotion.
