An off-court emergency brought an early end to the Campbells Creek and Avoca clash in the third quarter, with the Bulldogs credited as 31-goal winners.

As it transpired, the result was still enough to see the Bulldogs leapfrog the Maryborough Giants to regain top spot on the ladder, while Campbells Creek sit 11th with one win.

The Bulldogs got off to a good start, scoring 17 goals to seven to sit 10 goals clear at the first change. Maddy Egan scored 14 goals, while Gina Beavis added three, while for Campbells Creek, Lillie Wrigley scored all seven goals.

A high-scoring second quarter saw Avoca score 20 goals, while Campbells Creek did what they could to stay in touch, scoring 12 goals for the term to keep the scoreline at 37-19 at the main break. For the Bulldogs, Egan scored 17 goals, while Beavis added three, and for Campbells Creek, Wrigley scored 10 goals and Molly Kennedy two.

The third quarter, which conspired to be the last quarter, saw Avoca score 22 goals as they continued to shift gears, while Campbells Creek were able to score nine goals. Egan scored 16 goals to take her tally to 47, while Beavis added six. Meantime, for Campbells Creek, Wrigley scored four to lead the way with 21 goals, while Tarni Williams scored five goals.

The Bulldogs will resume their season following the King’s Birthday bye against Maldon, while Campbells Creek will take on Lexton.
