Maryborough Giants continued on their merry way in the top four, defeating Navarre by 19 goals at the Navarre Sports Complex.

The Giants have been getting off to great starts in the A grade competition, and Saturday was no exception. They scored 12 goals to five in the opening term to lead by seven goals at the first change.

Annalyse Carroll scored eight goals for the Giants, while Abbey Raven added four, while for Navarre, Mollie Simpson scored three goals and Sadie Reading two.

Navarre were up for the fight in the second quarter, however, and outscored the Giants 13-11 in the second term to trail 18-23 at the main break. Simpson scored nine goals for the Hoppers, while Reading added four, and for the Giants, Carroll scored seven times and Raven four.

The Giants were able to get the game back on their terms in the third quarter, and scored 15 goals to seven to lead 38-25 at the final change. Carroll scored 11 goals and Raven four for the Giants, while Claire Cain scored five goals and Simpson two for Navarre.

The Giants finished strongly as they were able to score 13 goals to seven to eventually finish with a comfortable win after their second-quarter scare.

Carroll scored nine goals to finish with 35 for the day for the Giants, while Raven added another four goals, while for Navarre, Reading added five goals.

The Giants will be favoured to continue their run when they host Harcourt, while Navarre face a big meeting with rivals Natte Bealiba.
