This autumn, Buda Castlemaine and the Castlemaine State Festival presents A European Australian Connection and The Salon Music Series from March 24 to April 30.
In the spirit of Hungarian born Ernest Leviny and his five daughters - throughout the Castlemaine State Festival - Buda will explore the connection between its European heritage and its place in the Australian landscape. At set times during the festival, Buda will host exhibitions, hands-on workshops, talks and site-specific artworks.
Damon Kowarsky is an Australian artist working across drawing, printmaking and painting who will address this European Australian connection within the heritage home.
Printmakers Nancye Canobie and Keith Wiltshire will join Bendigo-based floral artist and photographer Sharon Greenaway to explore the connection between Buda’s European heritage garden and its context within the Central Victorian landscape.
Buda’s function and event room in its stunning grounds will play host to the festival’s biggest drawcards with indoor Salon music sessions. With a limited capacity per show, you’re guaranteed unplugged, pared-back sets that get to the very essence of the performers
Pack a picnic, or order one of Buda’s special gourmet hampers online and make a festive day of it. Kids are welcome and don’t forget the special Buda treasure hunt just for them. Open daily 12 to 5 during the Castlemaine State Festival then 12 to 4pm from May 1. Go to budacastlemaine.org for music and workshop times.
