AFTER what has been a tumultuous 18 months for live theatre, Bendigo Venues and Events is thrilled to welcome audiences back for some of the best entertainment Australia has to offer. From comedy to chamber music, audiences can enjoy the latest in live entertainment in beautiful surrounds for a fraction of the price they would pay in city venues.

On September 7, The Ulumbarra Theatre will host revered Australian singer-songwriter Paul Kelly and his band, including Vika and Linda Bull. The 'On The Road Again' tour is a welcome return to live performing for the musicians and crew.

“The band and crew and I have really missed each other over the last 18 months as shows were first postponed then cancelled,” Kelly said.

“We’re really looking forward to stretching out and playing music night after night. We want to see the whites of your eyes, you lovers of sound, joy and fury; we want to charge the air around us and change each other and send you home singing into the night!”

On September 26 at the Bendigo Bank Theatre, lovers of classical music can enjoy the talent Trio Anima Mundi, who will perform two piano trios by Beethoven and Reissiger. International award-winning Trio Anima Mundi – Kenji Fujimura (piano), Rochelle Ughetti (violin), Noella Yan (cello) – is renowned for its ‘Piano Trio Archaeology’ – presenting these ‘findings’ alongside masterpieces of the piano trio genre and freshly-minted contemporary compositions.

For something completely different, on October 7 and 8, the Engine Room presents Vanessa ‘Larry’ Mitchell performing her onewoman show 'Teardrops on My Dildo'. Described as a “breathtakingly brilliant queen of sass”, the comedian explores dating, parenting and all things female.

On November 28 at the Ulumbarra Theatre, legends of musical theatre and opera, Marina Prior and David Hobson perform 'The 2 Of Us'. Featuring brand new songs, back-stage and life stories, and classics from their vast careers spanning 35 years. Accompanied by renowned pianist David Cameron, in a two-hour intimate performance, Marina and David will perform hits from productions such as The Phantom of The Opera, Cats, Evita, Les Miserables, and West Side Story, to name a few.
