HARCOURT (41) def ROYAL PARK (36)

In a crucial game for both teams’ finals chances, Harcourt took a narrow five-goal win to move up to ninth on the ladder.

In what was a tense game, Harcourt controlled proceedings, and answered every Royal Park challenge to give themselves the best possible opportunity to try to move up into the top eight.

A 13-goal to 10 start gave Harcourt an early lead, but Royal Park made their challenge in the second quarter, as they scored 12 goals to 10 to reduce the lead to one goal at the main break.

In the third quarter, Harcourt started to clear away again as a high-scoring opening half made way for more of a defensive struggle, with the Lions scoring nine goals to seven, before adding eight goals to seven in the final quarter to finish with a five-goal win.

Cassidy McLean was the scoring source for Harcourt, scoring 24 goals, while Tayla Gale added 11, while for Royal Park, Abbey Devereaux scoring 22 goals and Jess Egan added another 14.
