Harcourt proved much too strong for Maryborough Rovers on Saturday afternoon, with the Lions taking victory by 165 points.

The loss could easily have been by a much bigger margin had the Lions kicked straighter with 35 behinds being kicked from the 57 shots on goal.

A nine-goal opening term to the Lions set up the convincing victory, but to Rovers’ credit, they did restrict the Lions to just 13 more goals for the next three quarters.

However, while it was an unlikely proposition to replace Carisbrook or Natte Bealiba through percentage in any case, the Lions will have been disappointed to miss out on a big percentage booster, now needing the Redbacks and the Swans to lose next weekend to finish inside the top two, while a victory against Newstead next week will seal a berth inside the top four.

Brayden Frost was again the standout performer for Harcourt and has an exceptional season, listedin the best players in 11 of his 14 games.

He was supported by Ben Leech, Darby Semmens, Cameron Anderson, Lachlan Mitchell, and Nick Matricardi with the goals being shared amongst 12 different goal scorers.

On a personal level, Rovers youngster Marshall Murray is finishing the season off on a high as he again was named their best player, while Reece Perry, Jack Dawson and Liam Radlof also tried hard, as did Chris Scragg and Kieran Johns on what was a tough day for the club.
