Harcourt proved much too strong for Newstead under the Saturday night lights, extending their winning streak to 29 games with a 62-point win.
It was the second half that did the damage for the Lions, kicking 11 goals to four to well and truly control their affair.
It was a fairly dour start as both teams looked to acclimatise to the conditions under lights, but Harcourt were able to kick three goals in the first term to one from the Kangaroos to lead by 12 points at the first change.
Newstead had their best quarter in the second term as they stayed with the two-time defending champions, and were able to hit the scoreboard with good effect, kicking four goals.
The Lions still had every answer, however, and were able to kick five of their own to extend their lead to 17 points at the main change.
In a high-scoring third quarter, the Lions started to flex their muscle, kicking six goals, while Newstead kicked three, with the margin sitting at 37 points at the last change.
The Lions continued to prove they were too strong, adding a further five goals in the last term to one from the Kangaroos to take the final margin beyond 10 goals.
It was the Anderson show for the Lions, with Nathan best on ground, while Cameron continued his stellar start to the season, with the duo combining for seven goals. Alex Code, Kaleb McBride, Jed Rodda and Jordan Gartside were also named in the best, with Rodda also kicking four goals, while Baxter Gurd and Patrick Gretgrix added three apiece.
The Kangaroos may have lost, but they showed they were able to match Harcourt for passages, even though key injuries have already afflicted them.
Jedd Pedretti, Angus Mayes, Anthony Robins, Tyler James, Brad Richardson and Sam Daldy were all named in their best, with James providing a target up forward with four goals.
