“I still have a lot to learn as well. I feel like I am still pretty new in the role so to receive the award so soon was really exciting,” she said.

The award’s prize consists of attendance at the 2025 AGE study tour in Sydney including the costs of admission, travel, and accommodation expenses.

“I’m very keen to see how other venues run their business and it’s given me some confidence to go higher up in the industry one day,” she said.

Beginning her time at the Highland in 2019 at 20 years old Olivia went from casual bar attendant supporting her own beauty business, to part-time, and finally her current role as a full-time function coordinator.

When she first started in this position she found the role was more than she expected.

“I was a bit surprised on my first day when they were like, ‘this is your desk’, and everything like that,” she said.

“I don’t know what I expected but it’s been pretty good.”

Described as being “an old head on young shoulders” in her nomination, Olivia has turned a full time role into a streamlined position that allows her to help across the business.

“This lead by example leadership style has seen other staff with years more experience turn to her for advice,” the nomination read.

While Olivia is quick to say she’s new to functions coordination she is motivated by a customer focus that carries across her five years with the club. The work is rewarding for her simply by trying to give people the best experience possible.

“As long as people have a good time here,” she said.

While interviewing Olivia, a client pulled her aside to thank her and give her a box of Favourites chocolates for all her hard work this year.

They weren’t the only person excited to recognise her hard work however. Her two brothers, her dad, and mum, Donna Lanfranchi, were all together when they heard the news.

“The fact that she was thought of so highly to be nominated, that someone had taken the time and effort to put her forward for this award meant she was already a winner in my eyes,” Donna said.

“Olivia is proof that it doesn't matter if you live in a large city or a small country town, there is opportunity to succeed.

“The pride and love I felt and feel for her, it's a phone call I will never forget.”
