Hoppers’ positive result with 81-point victory over Campbells Creek
CAMPBELLS CREEK 5.6 (36) def by NAVARRE 18.9 (117)
Navarre took a very comfortable victory over Campbells Creek on Saturday when they won by 81 points.
The big victory increased the Grasshoppers percentage by 10 percent, which will help to keep Avoca from jumping over them to 10th on the ladder when they meet in the final home and away game of the season next week.
The Grasshoppers were never really challenged as they led comfortably at the end of each term.
Creek managed to score three goals in the third term, but it was a free flowing quarter and Navarre also slotted seven goals to maintain a 10-goal lead going into the final term.
Navarre retained the upper hand all day and kicked four final quarter goals, while Creek could only manage four behinds as the Grasshoppers look to finish the season off strongly.
Sam Rickard and Tom Hannett were inspiring for the Grasshoppers, as was Shannon Treloar, Joel McNaughton and Angus Taylor, with Luke Hendy finishing off the good work with five goals, and the livewire Aiden Lee snagged four goals.
Creek named Kyle Gellatly, Mitchell Stevens, Hadley Bassett and James Martinovic as their best players as well as Dylan Stevens and Nick O’Brien, while their goals were shared amongst five different players.
