A big last quarter was what Navarre needed to pull away from a plucky Royal Park to take the Blue Ribbon Cup.

The first quarter was a slog, with both teams kicking one goal apiece in the early stages, but the Hoppers caught a break in the second when they were able to kick three goals to just one from Bushy to extend their lead to 13 at the main break.

Royal Park, to their credit, played easily their best football of the year so far when they were able to drag the margin back to one straight kick at the last change, having kicked four goals to three.

But the Hoppers found another gear right when they needed it, kicking five goals in the last term, while Bushy could only find one goal.

Jayden Fowkes was the Hoppers’ best player, and was ably supported by Louis Hannett, Sam Kaye, Oliver Notting, Baxter Cheeseman and Josh Fowkes, while Ash Driscoll kicked four goals.

For Bushy, Lachlan Bates has continued his outstanding start to the season, while Matt Walker, Declan Wagstaff, Rhys Egan, Jacob Rollason and Beau Govan were also among their better players.
