A weekend of critical im-portance for Clunes and Carisbrook sees them clash in a crucial double-header.

For Carisbrook, a third T20 win in succession would leave them just one win away from a fairy tale grand final appearance in their first season back in A grade, while it will also be our first look at the Brookers in the one-day competition which has served them well in the A reserve division over the last two seasons.

However, Clunes, fresh off their impressive 52-run victory over Beaufort, will also be looking to continue to announce themselves as contenders this season, so for both teams, it’s an important weekend in the context of their season.

Carisbrook were supremely impressive in defeating Maryborough by 10 wickets, comfortably chasing down a target of 99 with five overs to spare.

Martin Mark made a big impact, scoring 59 in his first innings of the season, while son Cooper was impressive with the ball, finishing with two wickets, alongside Dean Nalder and Nick Broad.

Perhaps the only negative from the game was a suspected serious Achilles injury to Leigh Koop, which means Carisbrook’s top order takes a hit.

However, with Jarryd Coghlan providing 30 runs against Beaufort, as well as William Coutts (15) and Caleb Cluff (13) scoring well in their first game, there is still an element of power in the Brookers’ top order.

It’s a luxury Clunes also appear to have at the moment, with some solid performances in the first two rounds.

Brenton Jones scored 27 in a consistent innings against Beaufort, while Lachlan Morganti added another 15 runs after making 32 against Laanecoorie Dunolly in the first round.

Mitch Coppick and Mark Allen also provided double-digit scores, with 21 and 14 respectively, while Noah Davies provided some late hitting towards the end in what was a superb individual game, hitting 29 off 14, which included two sixes and three fours.

Davies was terrific in the field as well, taking 3/13 off his four overs, while also taking two catches.

Ash Gunn continued to bowl well, taking 1/3 off two overs, while Muhammed Shehzad provided some good bowling late in the piece, taking 2/5 off three overs. Youngster Brett Coon also played his part, taking 2/16 off four overs.
