CAMPBELLS CREEK 4.2 (26) def by NEWSTEAD 27.15 (177)
Newstead had a massive victory over Campbells Creek on Saturday to the tune of 151 points.
The Steaders travelled to Campbells Creek full of purpose and it showed from the start of the game when they slotted nine goals from 13 scoring shots in the opening term, while holding Creek scoreless.
It clearly showed that Newstead was the dominant team as they averaged another five goals for the remainder of the quarters, while keeping Creek to just six scoring shots over the remaining three quarters, for four goals.
Newstead has had a slow start to the season, but it appears that they have found some form in the last two games, with big victories over Navarre and Creek, and now sit in eighth position on the ladder as a result of their improvement.
Newstead forward Tyler James had the kicking boots on with seven goals to his name, and Hayden Hall, with five and Adam Hunter, with four, were also among the goals.
Angus Mayes has consistently been among the Steaders best players all season and was named in the best again on Saturday.
Others to play well in a team effort were Harrison McGuire, Hall, Jovian Goulton, Brad Richardson and Hunter.
While Creek definitely tried hard as they do in each contest, they were not up to the challenge of the visiting team.
Creek named Luke Manning, Kyle Gellatly, John Raymond, Joel Wootton, Mitch Spencer and John Vakatau as their better players and Wootton was the only multiple goal scorer with two goals.
