Maryborough Karate Club had positive news last week when three junior green belts were able to receive their first grading in Kobudo.

Wyatt Hoggan, Zaiv Weaver and Raif Weaver are the first three students to have received a Kobudo grading in Maryborough, which is a form of karate which is strictly controlled, and uses implements for defense such as the Bo, Sai and Nunchaku.

Initiatives of Kobudo includes developing balance, the understanding of distance and also respect for the implements which are used.

The Bo is a large stick which is introduced when students in Maryborough achieve a green belt ranking, while they have also been introduced to a modified version of the Sai.

All three students were presented with grading certificates signed by Grand Masters in Okinawa, Japan.
