Despite both men’s and women’s teams missing the playoffs, the Maryborough Blazers were well-represented in both North West divisions’ All-Star Five.
Despite playing just five games, Zac Dunmore made his presence felt as he earned selection to the All-Star Five in the men’s division.
Dunmore scored at an average of 30 points per game, where he showed off all facets of his scoring, and the Blazers were able to take victories against Castlemaine, Echuca and the Macedon Ranges Rockies as a result in his final three games of the season.
Dunmore currently plies his trade with the Ballarat Miners in the NBL1 competition, and his latest stint in the Country Basketball League (CBL) will do him no harm as he looks to earn regular minutes next season.
Meantime, Faith McKenzie was also named to the women’s All-Star Five team.
Taking on the role of playing-coach for the season, McKenzie immediately slotted in and showed out, scoring 198 points at an average of 19.8 per game to lead all scorers at the end of the home-and-away season.
Like Dunmore, McKenzie was able to establish herself as one of the premier three-level scorers in the competition, scoring the most points from the free throw line throughout the season, while also scoring regular buckets from inside the arc.
Both players missed out on most valuable player of the competition, which went to Bendigo Braves players Lachlan O’Brien and Poppy Blanch respectively.
