There was great success for Maryborough local Kody Taggart in the recent Ballarat Marathon, finishing 14th overall, and second in class in the inaugural five kilometre race around the streets of the town.

The young athletics star was able to set a stellar pace throughout, finishing in a time of 17 minutes and 11 seconds around the Sturt Street hill, with over 400 competitors competing against him.

Held over two days, there were over 4000 participants running through the streets, with categories including a mile, 5 km, 10 km, 10 km wheelchair, half marathon and marathon.

The youngster will be hoping to continue his good form by running for the Maryborough Education Centre at the North Central District cross country event, as well as the Loddon Mallee Region cross country event.
