It was an impressive fight from Carisbrook in one of their best performances for the year against Lake Wendouree on Sunday.
The Lady Redbacks may have eventually gone down by 67 points, but it was a vast improvement on the 184-point margin between these two teams from their round four meeting.
The Lakers were able to start strongly, kicking three goals, while the Lady Redbacks had their chances, but added two behinds.
Lake Wendouree extended their margin in the second quarter thanks to four goals, while Carisbrook added one behind to sit 48 points in arrears at the main break.
The third quarter, however, was most impressive from the Lady Redbacks. Olivia Butler had a massive influence, kicking two goals, while Anika Munn added another to help the Lady Redbacks win their second quarter of the season, reducing the margin to 41 points by the last change.
However, Lake Wendouree bounced back in a big way in the last, kicking three goals to restore a handy lead, eventually taking their win.
Butler was super-impressive for the Redbacks, as was Munn, Tara Kennedy, Tara Curtis, Danae Every and Caitlin Butler.
The Lady Redbacks will now look for another competitive performance this week when they host East Point.
