Carisbrook fought hard, but it wasn’t enough to stop a powerful Redan team winning by 133 points in their second meeting of the season.

t was a historic day for the Lady Redbacks, who were able to play in front of their home crowd in a senior women’s match for the first time since 2021, as well as using their new facilities for the first time.

Despite the gulf in class between the teams, Carisbrook defended stoutly throughout the day.

Four goals in the first quarter saw Redan open up a 26-point lead at the first break, but eight goals in the second quarter broke the game open, with the Lions taking a 79-point lead at the main break.

The Lady Redbacks continued to fight and enjoyed an impressive second half with their tenacity to defend, holding Redan to five goals in the third quarter as the Lions moved 110 points clear by the final change.

The Lions were held to three goals in the final quarter as Carisbrook continued to fight hard for what was a large crowd on the day.

Olivia Butler had a standout performance through the midfield, with Julianne Boldock, Tara Curtis, Anika Munn and Maddison Smith were also impressive throughout the day.

The Redbacks are back home next Sunday afternoon when they host Lake Wendouree.
