Carisbrook Lady Redbacks will be seeking their second victory of the season when they travel to Maddingley Park to face the third-placed Bacchus Marsh on Sunday.
The Lady Redbacks will be hoping to repeat their round five heroics from defeating the Cobras by 13 points, having recovered from a seven-point deficit during the final quarter to kick the final three goals of the contest.
It was a fine victory from the Lady Redbacks, who will attack this weekend with plenty of confidence as a result.
Two goals from Olivia Butler helped spark the team the last time the two teams met, while Shelley Feilding also kicked two goals, while Grace Brady, Tiani Jardine, Anika Munn, Julianne Baldock and Jade Cameron were also in the best.
The Lady Redbacks will be hoping to bounce back from a 165-point loss to Redan in their last start
. It was a tough task against the Lions, who have been outstanding throughout the season so far, and Sunday was no exception, with the Lions kicking seven goals in each of the second and last quarters, and were relentless in their quest to continue their status as the premiership favourites.
Cameron was the Lady Redbacks’ best player, while Ashlyne McInnes also played well. Maddison Smith, Bonnie Smart, Michaela Woolley and Sarah Lynch completed the best players for Carisbrook.
Elsewhere, Carisbrook’s under 16s will travel to the Darley Hub to take on the Cobras, who had a competitive game when the two teams last met in round three.
It was Carisbrook’s highest score of the season, kicking four goals as they lost by 28 points, with Rhani Evans kicking two goals for the morning.
Last week, the Lady Redbacks were very competitive against Redan, with two goals in the first and third quarters the key difference in their 35-point loss.
The Lady Redbacks were still in the game at half time, trailing by 16 points, and were rewarded with a goal in the last quarter through Charlotte Metters.
Metters was one of the better players for Carisbrook, with Chloe Wyatt named as the Lady Redbacks’ best, with Tori Taylor, Danika Anderson, Tahlia Jordan and Olivia Rogers also named in the better players.
