Avoca hosted Lexton and went down by just ten points in their first home game of the season.
In a low scoring opening term, the Bulldogs led the Tigers by a point at the first change and pushed that lead out to five points at half time.
The Bulldogs were showing a much better effort than their previous two rounds of football and were confident of finally knocking off the Tigers for the first time in 24 games.
However, the Tigers came out in the premiership quarter full of run and posted five goals from 10 shots on goal to lead by 17 points going into the final quarter.
But the Bulldogs can be proud of their fighting spirit as they fought back in the final term to outscore the Tigers, but it was not by enough as the Tigers were able to win the game by ten points.
Lexton have had a number of close games this season with all results being under ten points.
Lexton’s better players were Bryce Karslake, Jack Peacock, James Templeton, Keltyn Rinaldi and Jaykeb Lench with Templeton, Darren Cook and Rinaldi being the multiple goal scorers for the visitors.
Avoca’s best were Jaye Farnsworth, Scott Cawthan, Campbell Blair, Byron Wynd, Tyson Cope and Cody Lubeek with 15-year-old first gamer Campbell Blair kicking two goals for the Bulldogs.
