Lexton were never troubled by Avoca on Saturday as the Tigers won in comfortable fashion by 70 points.
Avoca’s 2022 best and fairest, Joel Antonio, is now in Tiger colours, and kicked the opening goal for the home team just one minute into the game.
The Tigers followed with the next four goals before Avoca ruckman Scott Cawthan drifted forward to mark and kick the Bulldogs only goal for the first half.
Avoca coach Zack Lubeek has moved into the midfield leaving the Bulldogs one man short in the forward area, and it showed when the Bulldogs went into their attacking zone as the ball was rebounded easily by the Tigers defenders.
The second quarter saw the Bulldogs with only 17 men on the field when an Avoca player was sent from the field with a yellow card and was not back until after half time. This certainly did not help Avoca’s cause with the Tigers taking full advantage.
Avoca scored the first goal of the second half when TJ Kennedy received a 50-metre penalty, but the Tigers answered immediately through Lachlan Pryor. The Bulldogs’ Tyson Gray snapped a left footer, but the Tigers kicked the next two goals including a snapshot from Alex McLean right on the siren to give the Tigers a massive boost as they went to their final huddle.
A four-goal to one final term in favour of the Tigers put the game to rest and the home team proved to be the superior team on the day.
The Tigers named their better players as Lachlan Rokebrand, Aidan Broughton, Jack Cutler, Mclean, Pryor, and Bryce Karslake.
Avoca named Bryce Howell, Gray, Matt Newton, Brayden Northern, Riley Hamilton and Lubeek as their best players.
