Lexton hosted Royal Park in the battle of the Tigers and it was the home team that came out on top by 30 points after kicking away in the final term.

As predicted, it was a very close encounter for the first three quarters, but Lexton got the upper hand in the last term to kick five goals to two.

The opening term was goal for goal with Murray Bond kicking the opening goal for Royal Park, but Lexton’s Lochlan Pett snagged an amazing goal from the boundary line to answer the opening goal by Bond. There was some early controversy when the goal umpire declared it a behind, only to be overruled by the field umpire.

The second term was more free flowing football with a total of eight goals being scored. Lexton ended the quarter leading at half time by a solitary point, after two late goals to the visitors with one an amazing check side goal to Rhys Egan.

Another close quarter in the third saw Lexton lead by ten points at the final change and Royal Park coach Mark Ashmore asked his players to show composure with the ball in the final term and to “fight like Tigers”.

Unfortunately for the visitors though, Lexton had all the answers and finished the game strongly to keep their finals hopes alive.

Lexton’s better players were Josh Sargent, Lachlan Rokebrand, Adrian Verhoeven, Jake Eyers and Sam Dunn with Darren Cook and Lochlan Pett both kicking three goals apiece.

Royal Park was well served by Darcy Bond who rucked tirelessly, Luke Relouw, Lauchlan Woodward, Rhys Wagstaff and Luke Dunne, with Murray Bond kicking three goals.
