Harcourt ensured that the race for third would come to an exciting conclusion, with their 39-goal victory against Dunolly reducing the gap between third-placed Carisbrook and the Lions to just 1.5 percent.
The Lions again used a devastating quarter of netball to their effect — while it was the second quarter against Campbells Creek last week, this week, the third quarter would help the Lions do all the damage.
It was a strong start by the Lions which helped them open up a 10-goal lead at the opening change, scoring 18 goals to eight.
In what would prove to be a similar second quarter, the Lions would extend their lead to 21 goals by half time as they scored 20 goals to nine.
However, the third quarter saw Harcourt really flex their muscle, scoring 20 goals while restricting the Eagles to just five in the same time-frame, ensuring the Lions would turn for home leading by 36 goals.
To Dunolly’s credit, their last quarter would be their strongest, as they would restrict Harcourt to just 10 goals for the quarter, while scoring seven goals of their own. It was not enough to prevent a 39-goal loss, however.
Carly Chaplin, Cassidy McLean and Tayla Gale were Harcourt’s best for the afternoon, with McLean proving too strong in the goal circle, scoring 41 goals.
For Dunolly, Ashlee Lierich and Briella Gibbs were their best, while Samantha Cheetham scored 20 goals.
