Harcourt have roared back into top eight contention in recent weeks, and continued on their march with a 40-goal victory over Talbot.

The Lions dominated from the get-go, establishing a seven-goal break at quarter time thanks to 14 goals in the first quarter, and were then able to extend their lead by scoring 18 goals to four in the second term to lead by 21 goals at the main break.

Talbot had their best quarter of the day in the third, scoring seven goals while restricting Harcourt to 13, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Lions increasing their lead to 27 goals by the final change.

The Lions put the finishing touches on the game with 17 goals to four in the last to eventually run out big victors.

The win sees the Lions move up to ninth on the ladder, just percentage from Royal Park in eighth.

Tayla Gale was at her best for Harcourt, scoring 34 goals, while Kate Blake added 28. For Talbot, Tia Skelton scored 13 goals to lead the way for the Hawks.
