Local inflatables event a success
Local kids were jumping, sliding and kicking for joy last week thanks to an indoor sports and inflatable school holiday event.
The three-day event from Monday to Wednesday was organised by Adventure Zone Inflatables and saw numerous activities fill the basketball courts at the Maryborough Sport and Leisure Centre.
Some of those activities included inflatable slides, jumping castles, air hockey, pool, sumo suits, basketball, soccer, giant jenga and connect four just to name a few.
Adventure Zone Inflatables owner Keira Koster said the idea for the activity stemmed from her own experience of trying to entertain her family during the school break.
“I think there is a need for extra programs for kids locally to put something else on for them, I have six children myself and finding things to keep them occupied can be tricky,” she said.
“Our council has a great program, but I thought there was an opportunity to add something a little different.
“Keeping kids active and happy during school holidays and not just sitting at home and doing nothing is vital.”
According to Ms Koster, unique and exciting activities for local kids can reap benefits for children and parents alike.
“I really enjoy seeing my kids trying something different, some-thing that you wouldn’t normally do at home and something you don’t have to travel far for,” she said.
“A lot of local kids might not get the opportunity to go on jumping castles because they are quite expensive and you might have to travel far because of our location.
“I also wanted to provide this quite cheaply as well because I understand that people with large families can find it hard to find activities that they can afford to do locally.”
Following the success of the event with nearly every session booked out, Ms Koster is hopeful to host similar events soon.
“The Maryborough Sports and Leisure Centre has been fantastic in allowing the inflatables and activities to stay inside meaning we didn’t have to pack up every day and I hope we can have another event next school holidays,” she said.
