Dunolly has welcomed it’s newest business to town, with Dunolly Cafe recently opening its doors in Broadway.
Cafe owner Tina Hoang took a punt when she saw the business, located at 98 Broadway, was up for grabs — having little knowledge of Dunolly’s history and community.
It’s a gamble that’s been paying off, with the owner overwhelmed by the support she and the business has received since opening its doors earlier this month.
“I actually didn’t know anything about the town,” she said.
“I’ve had so many people coming in and telling me about the town’s story with gold mining which is very interesting and I’m happy to learn more about the town and people.
“Everyone has been very supportive and the business has been flat out so far which is great.”
With six years experience in running cafes and takeaway businesses in Springvale, Pakenham, Geelong and Minyip, Tina and her partner Shane are bringing traditional Australian takeaway food to the business, as well as homely Vietnamese food.
Tina said food like Banh Mi, pho, homemade spring rolls, soups and noodle dishes, as well as iconic Vietnamese iced coffee, will be available from the cafe.
“We have your traditional cafe and takeaway food you find pretty well everywhere, but we also have Vietnamese food available,” she said.
“In the summer, Vietnamese food is about freshness and when it’s colder, the food is much more homely with noodle soups.”
Tina said once the business has settled in to the community, she and her family are looking to relocate to Dunolly.
“We’re still settling in to the business and our family are looking to relocate here in the near future,” she said.
“I love Dunolly, it’s been great already.”
